Overview & Special Stitches
The Alternating Popcorn stitch is a variation of the Popcorn Stitch using a 4 row repeat.

Stitches used:
- ch
- hdc
- dc
- pop (popcorn stitch)
Popcorn Stitch: 5dc into your stitch. Pull up the loop of the last dc and remove your hook. Place your hook into the top of the first dc made, then through the loop of the 5th dc that is hanging. Pull that loop through the first dc.
ch1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.
Foundation Chain
Chain a multiple of 4 + 3Â
Pattern
Row 1:Â reverse
- hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook and in each ch across.
- ch1 and turn.
Row 2:
- hdc in the first 2st.
- *pop in the next st, hdc in the next 3sts.
- repeat from * across ending with a hdc in each of the last 2 sts.
- ch1 and turn.
Row 3 and all reverse rows:
- hdc across.
- ch1 and turn.
Row 4:
- hdc in the first 4sts.
- *pop in the next st, hdc in the next 3sts.
- repeat from * across ending with a hdc in each of the last 4 sts.
- ch1 and turn.
Row 5:
- same as row 3.
Repeat rows 2 – 5 for the pattern.
