My Thoughts on Circulo Jeans
- Circulo Jeans dk is made up of lightly twisted cotton fibres.
- It feels more like a # 4 weight yarn.Â
- Initially I tried to make the Jeans Purse pattern from the Circulo site which suggested a 3mm hook. I found it impossible to crochet it with a 3mm hook, so I changed direction and went with this Mesh Market Bag pattern. I used a 5mm hook which felt perfect for this yarn. The initial pattern I chose had quite a tight start, so a smaller hook may be fine with a different pattern or it could just be something I personally had a hard time with.
- I find it hard to imagine you could crochet with it with a 2.25mm hook as suggested by the label….but you know…I’m no expert!!
- This yarn has a fairly light twist on it, so it was a bit splitty at the start, but that totally went away as I got into my project.
- It is a reasonably soft cotton, nice to the touch and not coarse at all.
- This is a good, solid yarn, perfect for the pattern I chose and interesting to see it made up as clothing, which it is marketed for (to look like denim).
- It pulls easily from the centre of the ball…which is always nice.
- I used nearly 3 balls of the Circulo Jeans and did not find any joins .
- The product photos on the Circulo site seem to be more saturated than the actual colours. You can see the more true to reality colours here.
The large mesh bag took 2½ balls of Circulo Jeans to complete.

In Summary
- This is an enjoyable yarn to work with using the larger hook.Â
- This yarn would look nice in the bathroom and kitchen as well, depending on the aesthetic you’re going for, and being a 100% cotton it would definitely perform as a cotton should with great absorbency and texture.
- I love the uniform denim effect of the yarn.
- To do good justice to the Circulo Jeans, I tried crocheting again with a 3.5mm hook and a looser tension. When I eased up on my tension, it was much easier to crochet with the smaller hook, but I could not go below the 3.5mm hook.
