Overview & Special Stitches
Rice stitch is a simple 1 row repeat pattern made up mainly of front and back post double crochet stitches.
- The resulting fabric will be nearly identical on both sides.
- Front Post Double Crochet (fpdc): The fpdc is performed around the leg of the st below from front to back.
- Back Post Double Crochet (bpdc): The bpdc is performed around the leg of the st below from the back to the front.
Foundation Chain
Chain a multiple of 2 + 1
Pattern
Row 1:
- dc in the 4th ch from the hook and in each ch across.
- turn.
Row 2:
- ch2 (counts as a hdc here and throughout)
- sk the first st then *fpdc in the next st, bpdc in the next st.
- repeat from * across.
- end with a fpdc and a hdc in the top of the turning ch2
Repeat row 2 for the pattern.
