Overview & Special Stitches

The Crossed Double Crochet Stitch is a beautiful and simple decorative stitch with a two row repeat.

  • The cross is achieved by completing 1 dc and then the following dc is performed in the stitch before it.
  • For variation you may dc 2 and then cross the third dc over the 2. (you may need to alter the amount of starting chains)
  • It can be done with or without a row of sc in between the rows of crossed dc.
  • The below instructions will include the row of sc

Foundation Chain

Chain a multiple of 2 plus 1

Pattern

Row 1:

  • sc into the second ch from the hook and sc across. This will create your foundation row.
  • ch3 and turn.

Row 2:

  • *Skip next st and dc into the following st, now dc into the skipped st before your last dc, pulling up the yarn a little as you make the stitch so it doesn’t become too tight.
  •  Repeat from * all the way across. dc in the last st.
  • ch1 and turn.

Row 3:

  • sc into the first st and all the way across. Your last sc will be in the top of the ch3.
  • ch3 and turn.

Repeat row 2 and 3 for the pattern.
