Premier Hipster Cotton

Details

Premier Hipster Cotton is a 100% cotton yarn featuring a mix of pastel and bright and bold stripes of colour.

  • It is a # 3/dk weight yarn.
  • There are 26 colours in the range.
  • The label recommends a 5mm hook or  4mm needles.
  • Knit gauge (4 in x 4 in): 21 sts x 28 r
  • Crochet gauge (4 in x 4 in): 16 sc x 18 r
  • This yarn may be machine washed warm. It can be tumble dried and ironed.

My Thoughts on Premier Hipster Cotton

  • Premier Hipster Cotton is made up of lightly twisted cotton fibres.
  • It feels like a true # 3 light weight yarn.
  • I specifically chose a centre out pattern because I believed that the colour changes in the yarn would suit it better and on completion this is still my opinion.
  • I chose a 3.5mm hook because of the nature of the pattern even though the small hook size was not the recommendation. I had no issues with the smaller hook and it was very enjoyable crocheting with.
  • There were no splitting issues at all.
  • It is a beautiful soft cotton yarn and feels nice to the touch.
  • I had a slight issue with a small yarn barf at the start when trying to pull from the centre, but that wouldn’t stop me using it again.
  • I  did not find any joins in the ball.
  • The colours are beautiful and for this reason alone it’s a joy to work with.

This project took a little over one full 100g ball of Premier Hipster Cotton to complete. I played yarn chicken and lost. 😭

In Summary

  • I love the vibrancy and beauty of the colours in this yarn.
  • Premier Hipster Cotton looks particularly nice in the round. I have yet to try it with back and forth rows, but I think granny squares would look great in this yarn also.
  • Definitely recommend!!

The pattern I used is called Springtime by Lucille Laflamme. You will find it in Issue # 175 of Crochet Monthly.
