The Checkerboard Lace pattern is a 2 row repeat crochet stitch.

Perfect for a summer shawl, a table runner or any project where an open airy pattern is desired.
The pattern looks very similar front and back.

Stitches used:

  • ch
  • sc
  • dc

Foundation Chain

Chain a multiple of 4 + 3

Pattern

Row 1: (foundational)

  • sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in the next ch.
  • *ch2, skip the next 2 ch, sc in each of the next 2 ch.
  • Repeat from * across.
  • ch3 (counts as a dc here and throughout) and turn.

Row 2: (foundational)

  • Skip the first sc and dc in the next sc.
  • *ch2, skip the next 2 ch, dc in each of the next 2 sc.
  • Repeat from * across.
  • ch1 and turn.

Row 3:

  • sc in each of the first 2 dc.
  • *ch2, sc in each of the next 2 dc.
  • Repeat from * across, ending with a sc in the top of the turning ch.
  • ch3 and turn.

Row 4:

  • Skip the first sc and dc in the next sc.
  • *ch2, skip the next 2 ch, dc in each of the next 2 sc.
  • Repeat from * across.
  • ch1 and turn.

Repeat row 3 and 4 for the pattern.
