The Checkerboard Lace pattern is a 2 row repeat crochet stitch.
Perfect for a summer shawl, a table runner or any project where an open airy pattern is desired.
The pattern looks very similar front and back.

- ch
- sc
- dc
Foundation Chain
Chain a multiple of 4 + 3
Pattern
Row 1: (foundational)
- sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in the next ch.
- *ch2, skip the next 2 ch, sc in each of the next 2 ch.
- Repeat from * across.
- ch3 (counts as a dc here and throughout) and turn.
Row 2: (foundational)
- Skip the first sc and dc in the next sc.
- *ch2, skip the next 2 ch, dc in each of the next 2 sc.
- Repeat from * across.
- ch1 and turn.
Row 3:
- sc in each of the first 2 dc.
- *ch2, sc in each of the next 2 dc.
- Repeat from * across, ending with a sc in the top of the turning ch.
- ch3 and turn.
Row 4:
- Skip the first sc and dc in the next sc.
- *ch2, skip the next 2 ch, dc in each of the next 2 sc.
- Repeat from * across.
- ch1 and turn.
Repeat row 3 and 4 for the pattern.
