Two Colour Granny Square Crochet Patterns

two colour granny square crochet patterns

Granny squares can be as wonderful and beautiful as your imagination allows.

Below are the links to 12 free crochet Granny Square patterns you can make with 2 colours or to suit your own personal style!!

You will find the yarn I have used in my online store.

Notes

  • In each of the below patterns I have used a 4mm hook and have tried to get each square as close as possible to 10cm squared.
  • Any changes I have made to the original pattern have been noted below.
  • Blocking Granny Squares makes a wonderful difference, so I have done that for each square, which helped to make them all similar in size.
  • The yarn I have used for each is Alara for the solid colours and Lorena Colorful for the variegated yarn. The shade colours for each are below.

Just Wingin' It Granny Square

After making so many granny squares, I wanted to have a go at making my own…hence the name.😊 I was pretty happy with the result.

Round 1:
With your first colour make a magic ring, ch2(doesn’t count as a stitch) and 12dc into the ring.

Round 2:
ch1, *(sc,dc) in the same stitch, 2tr, (dc,sc). Repeat from * 3 more times. ss and fasten off.

Round 3:
With your second colour join your yarn into the first sc between petals of round 2. ch6(counts as tr,ch3) tr into the next sc. (this is your first corner.)
*dc,2sc,dc,tr,ch3,tr. Repeat this pattern around your square. ss to the 3rd ch of ch6.

Round 4:
ss to ch3sp (ch3,dc,ch3,2dc) into corner. *dc into each stitch to next corner. (2dc,ch3,2dc) into corner. Repeat from * around and ss to beginning ch3. Fasten off.

Round 5:
Join first colour into corner sp. ch2(counts as a hdc), hdc,dc,2hdc all into the same corner sp. hdc into all stitches around with (2hdc,dc,2hdc)into each corner sp. ss to first ch2. Fasten off.

Round 6: worked in the back loop only.
Join second colour into any stitch in the blo. hdc in the blo in all stitches in the round and (hdc,dc,hdc) in each corner dc of the row below. ss to join.

Fasten off and weave in ends. Block if you desire.
